Unfortunately for practitioners in British Columbia, the CLE "Employment Law Conference 2010" in Vancouver is scheduled for the same dates.

Lancaster House announces 2010 Calgary Labour Arbitration and Policy Conference

Lancaster House has announced the details of its 2010 Calgary Labour Arbitration and Policy Conference. The conference will be held on June 10 and 11, 2010 at the Westin Calgary. It will be co-chaired by Arbitrator John Moreau, union counsel Leanne Chahley (Blair Chahley) and employer counsel, Barbara Johnston (Stikeman Elliott LLP). Lancaster House announces 2010 Vancouver Human Rights and Accommodation Conference

Lancaster House has announced the details concerning its 2010 Vancouver Human Rights and Accommodation Conference. The conference will be held on March 17 and 18, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. It will be co-chaired by Sandra Guarascio from Roper Greyell and Diane MacDonald, who is General Counsel for the BC Teachers Federation. Early bird rates are available until Februry 5, 2010. BC HRMA offering a "Legal Symposium: Current HR Challenges - A Legal Perspective"

The BC Human Resources Management Association (HRMA) is hosting a "Legal Symposium: Current HR Challenges - A Legal Perspective". The one day conference will be held in Vancouver on January 20, 2010 and in Victoria on January 27, 2010. More information can be found here.

The "Addictions in the Workplace" seminar

I attended a seminar today on "Addictions in the Workplace" that was put on by the law firm Fasken Martineau. Faskens' labour and employment lawyer Patricia Janzen presented along with Dr. Ray Baker, an addictions specialist who has a company called HealthQuest.

The seminar was one in a series that Faskens is offering to its clients. They are aimed primarily  at human resource professionals, but I wanted to hear Dr. Baker speak and obtain a better sense of the services he offers.

CLE BC "Human Rights Conference - 2009"

Day 2 of the annual CLE BC "Human Rights Conference - 2009" took place today in Vancouver. J. Grant Sinclair, Q.C., whose appointment as chair of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal ended this week, was the luncheon speaker. He presented on section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act, which prohibits hate messages.  

Ontario's "10th Annual Employment Law Summit"

I attended the Law Society of Upper Canada's "10th Annual Employment Law Summit" in Toronto today.

2009 Accommodation Law Conference

The 2009 Accommodation Law Conference is being held in Vancouver on May 27 & 28 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

It will adress "New legal breakthroughs in the duty to accommodate and their impact on union and employer representatives in Canada".

The conference is being put on by the Centre for Labour-Management Development.
